The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, Ravshanbek Alimov, held a meeting with the Mayor of Ashgabat, Rakhym Gandymov, the correspondent of the “Dunyo” news agency reported. During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for further developing cooperation between the capitals of the two countries, particularly the implementation of the Agreement on establishing sister-city relations between Tashkent and Ashgabat.
Special attention was paid to the issue of creating the “Tashkent” park in Ashgabat and the “Ashgabat” park in Tashkent. These parks will become new symbols of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. The parties also agreed to expand cultural and humanitarian cooperation and to promote it by regularly organizing cultural events in the “Tashkent” park for the residents and guests of Ashgabat.
In addition, the sides discussed the participation of delegations from both capitals in international events to be held in Tashkent and Ashgabat. It was especially noted that the participation of representatives of the Ashgabat mayor’s office in the Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road,” scheduled for November 27–29, 2025, would be an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation.
