In Tashkent, on the sidelines of the meeting of Central Asian agriculture ministers, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov met with Asel Kenenbaeva, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral projects in the agricultural sector and agreed to expand practical cooperation. The main topics of the discussions included the rational use of water and land resources, cooperation in potato production, renewal of the seed sector, and the development of livestock farming.
Uzbekistan presented its experience in digitalizing agriculture through the “Agroplatforma” and “Agrosugurta” systems. The Kyrgyz side expressed interest in applying this experience.
The following issues were also discussed:
- expanding cooperation between research institutes;
- exchange of young specialists;
- modernization of the agricultural education system;
- revitalizing the work of project-related working groups.
At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized that Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan cooperation in the agricultural sector will play an important role in the sustainable development of the region.
