The companies Uzbekiston Temir Yullari and Kazakhstan Temir Joly have agreed to expand railway cooperation for the transportation of grain and food products. On December 7, 2025, representatives of the two countries met at the Saryagash border station between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kahramon Yuldashev, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekiston Temir Yullari Zufar Narzullaev, as well as the Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Joly and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Yermek Kenzhekhanuly.

The parties agreed to increase the exchange of trains to 35 pairs per day. The Uzbek side will receive at least 10 grain-loaded wagons and 5 covered wagons with food products daily. It was also decided that the work of authorized bodies and unloading services would continue around the clock, including weekends and holidays.

According to the data, in the first 11 months of 2025, the total volume of freight transportation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan reached 28.5 million tons, which is an increase of 16% compared to the same period last year. During the same period, grain transportation increased by 32%, reaching 5.6 million tons.
