National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in an interview with Euronews TV channel emphasized Turkmenistan’s readiness for close cooperation with European partners in the supply of natural gas, TDH reports.
According to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, there is enormous potential for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU in the energy sector. The reason for this is that the European energy market is one of the largest in the world. In modern conditions, this requires uninterrupted and large-scale supplies of energy raw materials for the stable development of the European economy.
“Turkmenistan is ready to work closely with European partners on the issue of natural gas supply. One of the ways for targeted actions is the realization of the trans-Caspian route,” the politician said. Inter-parliamentary meetings are regularly held in Ashgabat and Brussels, Berdimuhamedov noted. Berdimuhamedov also announced his intention to expand work with partners in the Turkmenistan-European Union human rights dialog.
In March 2024, Berdimuhamedov said that Ashgabat intends to supply its gas to Turkey and Europe. According to him, the fuel can reach Turkey and Europe in two ways - either through the Caspian Sea and Azerbaijan, or through Iran's pipeline infrastructure, provided an agreement with Tehran is signed.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized that Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves. The Galkynyş field ranks first in the world in terms of gas reserves. Its reserves amount to 27.4 trillion cubic meters.
