The first meeting of the "Turkmenistan–Kyrgyzstan" Joint Commission on issues of transport, transit, and logistics was held in the city of Bishkek. As a result of the discussions, the parties signed a protocol confirming the agreements reached.

Priority areas include the development of transit cargo transportation, expansion of multimodal routes, and cooperation in the fields of road, rail, and water transport. Additionally, according to the press service of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the effective use of the “Turkmenbashi” International Seaport and the coordination of approaches to tariff policy are also among the key topics.

The development of transport cooperation between the two countries gained new momentum after the working visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to Kyrgyzstan on April 23. During the visit, the importance of establishing an effective transport-transit corridor along the “Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan” route toward Central Asia–the Middle East was emphasized. According to the information provided, the next meeting of the commission will be held in Turkmenistan in 2026.
