On June 5 in Ashgabat, political consultations took place between representatives of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey at the level of heads of structural departments.

The Turkmen side was represented by the Head of the Department for Middle Eastern Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, while the Turkish delegation was headed by Togan Oral, Head of the Main Directorate for Central Asia and the Organization of Turkic States of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to the Turkmen MFA.

The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction with the high level of dynamically developing interstate relations between the two countries. Both sides emphasized that regular high-level contacts and consultations between foreign ministries serve as an important factor in promoting bilateral ties.

During the negotiations, a wide range of issues concerning the further development of political and diplomatic relations was discussed, including the expansion of interparliamentary cooperation and the strengthening of the contractual and legal framework. Particular attention was given to cooperation within international and regional structures.

The diplomats discussed prospects for expanding economic cooperation, highlighting the role of the Turkmen-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the Turkmen-Turkish Business Council. Partnership interaction is planned to be developed in the areas of trade, energy, construction, industrial cooperation, and transport.

The sides also expressed interest in developing cultural dialogue and partnerships in the fields of science, education, sports, and healthcare.
