On August 22, 2025, a trilateral meeting was held at the Congress Center of the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” in Turkmenistan, with the participation of the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

At the beginning of the meeting, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the leaders of the brotherly countries for visiting Turkmenistan and emphasized the centuries-old ties of friendship, brotherhood, and neighborliness that unite the peoples of the region. He noted that the meeting was aimed at discussing the future of joint efforts and laying the foundation for new important agreements. Berdimuhamedov paid special attention to cultural and humanitarian cooperation, calling it a key factor in bringing the three nations closer together.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the high-level organization of the event, stressing the strategic nature of relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. He also highlighted the historical significance of the meeting coinciding with the International Year of Peace and Trust.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, in turn, expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in the energy and transport-logistics sectors and touched upon the prospects of implementing joint projects.

As a result of the consultations, an agreement was reached to sign a number of documents. Among them was a protocol on establishing fraternal relations between the city of Fuzuli (Azerbaijan) and the city of Arkadag (Turkmenistan).

Special attention during the meeting was devoted to energy partnership. The participants discussed the delivery of electricity from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, the export of Turkmen electricity to Azerbaijan, and opportunities for gas transportation. The issue of transport cooperation, which has strategic importance for the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian region, also took a central place.

In addition, the National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed developing a joint investment program for industrial projects for the period 2026–2035. This would contribute to expanding industrial cooperation, technology exchange, and the creation of new jobs.

Cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also identified as a priority area. The leaders of the three states confirmed their readiness to continue strengthening friendship and mutual understanding and to further develop comprehensive cooperation for the well-being of the brotherly peoples.
